I remember playing it and just be surprised as the first combat sequence was panning out. To be concise: It promised a lot of lofty features and gameplay to RPG-starving gamers and it largely succeeded in keeping those promises.ĭragon Age 2, however, started to create and replace features that I don't think quite a lot of people were asking for. The back-ground prologues of each class and race was really something that overwhelmed me when I played it, as I've never even thought it'd be feasible to include so many background stories in this type of game and that was something I remember to this day as a reason for its success. It had engaging characters and a game-play that took a lot from the Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale style of battle with a lot of tactical choices (some completely ground-breaking at the time) and trying to take the best from these previous RPGs while still managing to keep it new and up to date.

This was the 'spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate' and was announced all the way back in '04. I think you have some oversights to it all, but first I'd like to say from the beginning that your opinions are entirely valid and if you like DA2 better than Origins then that's perfectly fine and understandable.īut for me, and I think at least some other people, Origins has a special place in my game-library heart for what it was when it came out. If you disagree, please tell me why you think dragon age origins is more fun than dragon age 2 because I played both and I just don't see it. I think everyone is just looking through rose-colored glasses and not seeing dragon age 2 for what it is - the best game so far in the dragon age series. Aside from those two shortcomings I think it is a significantly better game than origins in just about every way yet the dragon age community seems to for the most part love origins and despise dragon age 2. the re-using of areas and the lack of genuine of open-worldness. I don't really get why everyone hates on dragon age 2 so much.

The combat in dragon age 2 was much more exciting than in origins, the character customization was much more streamlined, the bosses were more memorable, the characters were more robust, the dialogue was better. I didn't quite get all the way through origins but I beat dragon age 2 with three different characters. This subreddit is RES Nightmode Compatible
